Tissue and Mechanical Laboratory

The Excelen skills laboratory and test facilities can be configured to your testing and research needs. The equipment allows you to perform, data collect and document all aspects of device placement, performance and function in a variety of environments including bench, cadaver and live tissue.

Mechanical Studies

  • Engineering and machine shop team expert at testing fixture design and fabrication
  • Multiple testing devices and measurement devices on-site
  • 3D video-based motion analysis system (VICON)
  • Extensive experience with joint and soft and hard tissue testing
  • Multiple materials test frames (MTS, Enduratec)
  • A wide range of mechanical transducers and amplifiers
  • Long-term repetitive motion and flexure/strength test systems on-site

Cadaver Studies

Excelen acquires cadaver specimens from accredited sites using approved protocols for acquisition, preparation, storage, and disposal. Our primary site is the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program.Serology testing is performed and cleared prior to acceptance of cadaver specimens into the facility. We adhere to the highest professional standards, maintain state of the art specimen storage, and professional dissection services to individually prepare for each customer’s requirements.

Cadaver handling, preparation, and cremation are accomplished with the utmost sensitivity and dignity.
